Uzbekistan Apostille for Indian Students, Workers and Traders
Medical and other universities in Tashkent, Samarkand and Bukhara attract Indian students, and their admission files often call for an Uzbekistan apostille. That apostille is issued by India's Ministry of External Affairs. Uzbekistan joined the Apostille Convention in 2012, so no consular legalization is needed after MEA.

Documents from India for Uzbekistan
What do Indian students apostille for Uzbekistan? Usually the 10th and 12th mark sheets and passing certificates, the birth certificate and sometimes a NEET scorecard if the university asks. Graduates apostille their degree. Each document is verified by the right state authority and then MEA issues the Uzbekistan apostille. A translation into Russian or Uzbek is normally done after arrival.
Uzbekistan apostille for medical students
Indian students choose Uzbek medical universities for MBBS-equivalent programmes taught in English. The university and the visa process usually require school certificates with an apostille. Agents often collect the documents, but the apostille itself can only be issued by MEA.
Look at the exact list your university gives. Common items are the 10th and 12th mark sheets, the 12th passing certificate and the birth certificate. Lists differ between universities, so do not rely on a friend's list from another institution.

Russian or Uzbek translation
Uzbek is the state language, and Russian is still widely used in administration and universities. Documents are commonly translated into one of these languages after arrival, and the translation is often notarised by an Uzbek notary. Universities usually tell students where to get this done.
Doing the translation in India is rarely required. If your university or employer prefers an Indian translation, our translation service can arrange Russian.
Workers and families
Indian engineers, IT staff, pharmaceutical and construction professionals work on projects in Uzbekistan. Employers and permit offices may ask for an apostilled degree and a police clearance certificate. Spouses and children need apostilled marriage and birth certificates.
Exporters to Uzbekistan
India sells pharmaceuticals, machinery, auto parts, tea and textiles to Uzbekistan. Uzbek importers and regulators may ask Indian suppliers for apostilled company and product documents: certificate of incorporation, power of attorney, free sale certificate, GMP certificate and sometimes a certificate of origin. These pass through a Chamber of Commerce before MEA. Our commercial documents page covers the chamber step.
Because Uzbek offices often work with Russian translations, keep product names and company details identical across all papers. Small spelling differences become bigger problems after translation.
After the apostille: keeping papers safe
Each apostilled document carries an MEA sticker with a unique number on the reverse. Keep the documents flat, do not staple through the sticker, and scan every page in colour before you travel. Universities in Uzbekistan often ask for scans first and see the originals later.
Carry the originals in hand luggage rather than checked bags. If you plan to transfer to another university or country later, the same apostilled documents are generally accepted in any Convention country. A non-Convention country needs the embassy route instead, explained on our embassy attestation page. Keep your Uzbekistan apostille papers in one folder with your passport copies.
Mistakes students and exporters make
- Starting the apostille a few days before departure. State education departments can be slow in admission season.
- Sending laminated mark sheets.
- Missing the passing certificate when the university asked for both it and the mark sheet.
- Name differences between passport, birth certificate and school records.
- Seeking consular legalization that Uzbekistan does not require.

Uzbekistan FAQs
Do I need the Uzbekistan embassy after MEA?
No. Uzbekistan is an Apostille Convention party, so the MEA apostille is the final step in India.
Is the NEET scorecard apostilled?
Only if your university asks for it. Follow the university's list.
Can my agent get the apostille for me?
An agent can pass documents to an authorised channel, but MEA alone issues the apostille. Check that the agent uses the proper route.
Will I need a Russian translation?
Usually yes, once you arrive. Universities often guide students on where to get it.
Does an Uzbekistan apostille expire?
The apostille does not expire, though offices may want a recent police certificate.
Can I transfer to another country with the same documents?
An MEA apostille works in any Convention country. Non-Convention countries need MEA attestation and embassy legalization.
