Qatar Embassy Attestation for Indian Documents
Qatar embassy attestation is the chain of stamps that lets an Indian certificate be used for a Qatari work visa, a family visa or a business deal. Qatar does not take the Apostille from India, so the Ministry of External Affairs (MEA) attests the document first and the Embassy of the State of Qatar in New Delhi then legalizes it. INFINITYGRO Attestation runs the whole chain from Delhi for clients across India.

Documents from India for Qatar
What is the route for Qatar embassy attestation from India? For Qatar embassy attestation, the document is first verified in India: by the state education or home department, a notary or SDM, or a Chamber of Commerce for export papers. The MEA then adds its attestation stamp, and the Qatar Embassy in New Delhi legalizes it. Any further step inside Qatar depends on the Qatari office that receives the paper.
Why Qatar Asks for So Many Attested Papers
Qatar is one of the largest destinations for Indian workers. Engineers, nurses, teachers, accountants, drivers and technicians all go there on employment visas. Most of them meet attestation for the first time when an employer or recruiter asks for an attested degree.
The paper usually goes to a Qatari ministry. A degree may be checked for a work permit or for a professional licence. Health workers often need it for registration with the health regulator. Families need attested birth and marriage certificates to sponsor a spouse or children. Your employer or PRO in Qatar will know which office receives each paper, so ask them before you start.

Qatar Embassy Attestation, Step by Step
The order of stamps matters. The embassy will not look at a paper that has skipped a step.
- Home verification. Educational certificates go to the education department of the state that issued them. Personal documents such as birth or marriage certificates go to the state home department or, in some cases, a notary and SDM.
- MEA attestation. The Ministry of External Affairs checks the signature of the state officer and stamps the back of the document. This is the normal attestation, not the Apostille sticker.
- Qatar Embassy. The Embassy of Qatar in New Delhi legalizes the MEA stamp and adds its own seal.
- Return. We send the finished document back to you by Blue Dart or a similar tracked courier.
Some Qatari offices add their own check after the paper arrives in Qatar. We could not confirm one fixed rule for every case, so follow what your employer or the receiving ministry tells you. We handle the Indian and embassy steps only.
Degrees and Diplomas for Qatar Jobs
Educational papers are the bulk of Qatar work. A degree certificate is usually attested together with its mark sheets, because the receiving office wants to see the full record. Diplomas from polytechnics and ITI certificates follow the same state path, though the exact department depends on the state.
The degree must come from a recognised university. Distance and private university degrees can be attested too, but the state department may ask for a letter from the university first. Read more on our degree certificate attestation page.
Family Visa Documents
A worker who wants to bring a spouse needs an attested marriage certificate. Children need attested birth certificates. These are personal documents, so they go through the state home department, or a notary and SDM where that is the accepted path, before the MEA.
- Use a registered marriage certificate where you have one. See our marriage certificate guide.
- Birth certificates should be issued by the municipal or panchayat registrar. Our birth certificate page explains the details.
- A police clearance certificate is sometimes asked for. It comes from the Passport Seva system.
Export and Company Papers for Qatar
Indian exporters ship food, rice, spices, building materials and many other goods to Qatar. Buyers or Qatari authorities may want the commercial invoice and certificate of origin legalized. For these the first stamp comes from a recognised Chamber of Commerce, not the state department. The MEA then attests and the Qatar Embassy legalizes. Embassy fees for commercial papers are often higher than for personal ones.
Make sure the consignee, invoice number and goods description match on every paper. See our commercial document service for the full list.
Arabic Translation
Many Qatari offices accept English documents. Courts and some ministries want an Arabic translation. Ask the office receiving your paper whether it needs one, and whether the translation must be done in Qatar. If it can be done in India, we arrange a certified Arabic translation.
Mistakes That Cause Rejection
- Getting an Apostille instead of MEA attestation. Qatar needs the embassy route.
- Sending a laminated certificate. Stamps cannot be placed on lamination.
- A name spelt one way on the passport and another way on the degree.
- Skipping the state step for an educational document.
- Sending only the degree when the employer asked for mark sheets too.
