Romania Apostille for Indian Workers, Students and Families
A Romania apostille from India's Ministry of External Affairs makes an Indian document valid for Romanian offices with no embassy stamp. Both India and Romania are parties to the Hague Apostille Convention. INFINITYGRO prepares work-permit, study and family papers for Romania from clients all over India.

Documents from India for Romania
What is the process for Indian documents used in Romania? First the document is verified by the right Indian body, such as the university, state Home department or a Chamber of Commerce. MEA then issues a Romania apostille, which costs Rs 50 per document at MEA. No Romanian Embassy legalization follows. Romanian offices work in Romanian, so you usually need a translation by an authorised Romanian translator after the apostille.
Romania's demand for Indian workers
Romanian employers in construction, logistics, manufacturing and hospitality have hired many workers from India in recent years. The work permit file usually needs a police clearance certificate, educational or trade certificates and sometimes experience letters. These papers are where most of our Romania requests begin.
Romanian agencies normally state exactly which papers need an apostille. Ask them for the list in writing before you send anything to us.
Recruitment agencies sometimes send an Indian worker's file to Romania in two parts. The employer first applies for a work authorisation in Romania, and the worker then applies for a long-stay visa. Each part can ask for different papers. Keep the agency's list for each part and send us everything that needs a Romania apostille in one go, so the papers come back together.

Police clearance first, and timed carefully
A police clearance certificate, issued in India by the Passport Seva system or by state police, is often the paper Romanian offices care about most. It also tends to have the shortest shelf life, since many offices want it recently issued. Get the PCC close to your filing date, then send it to us for the apostille. Our PCC apostille page explains how each type is verified.
How a Romania apostille is obtained
- Educational papers. The university or state education department verifies degrees, diplomas and ITI certificates.
- Personal papers. The state Home or GAD department, or notary and SDM where allowed, verifies birth, marriage and police records.
- Business papers. A recognised Chamber of Commerce authenticates company documents.
- MEA. The CPV Division adds the apostille through its authorised outsourced centre.
See MEA apostille in India for the MEA side.
Trade and ITI certificates are a frequent cause of delay. They are issued by state technical boards or the National Council for Vocational Training, and the verifying body differs by state. Tell us which board issued your certificate and we will send it to the right office. Our degree certificate apostille page explains university verification for graduates.
Romanian translation after the apostille
Romanian public offices generally expect documents translated into Romanian by an authorised translator, and the translation is often certified by a Romanian notary. Because the translator works from the apostilled document, the apostille must come first. Ask your agency whether the translation will be done in Romania. If they accept one arranged in India, INFINITYGRO can help through our translation service.
Students and family members
Indian students attend Romanian universities, especially for medicine. Admission offices may ask for apostilled school leaving certificates and marksheets. Spouses and children joining a worker need birth and marriage certificates. Names must match the passport. A difference of one letter can trigger a request for an affidavit.
For medical admission, Romanian universities may ask for the Class 10 and Class 12 certificates and marksheets, plus a birth certificate. If the board certificate shows a different date of birth from the passport, fix it at the board before verification. A birth certificate apostille follows the state route, and a reissued certificate is fine.

Mistakes that slow Romanian files
- Applying for the PCC too early, so it is too old by filing time.

- Translating before the apostille.
- Sending experience letters without letterhead, signature or stamp.
- Laminated certificates, which cannot be stamped.
