Slovenia Apostille: Making Indian Documents Valid in Slovenia
A Slovenia apostille issued by MEA is the only Indian step needed before a document is used in Slovenia. India and Slovenia both apply the Hague Apostille Convention, so there is no embassy legalization. INFINITYGRO prepares Indian papers for Slovenia from across the country, including translation planning.

Documents from India for Slovenia
Is MEA's apostille enough for Slovenia? Yes. Slovenia and India are both parties to the Apostille Convention. After the right Indian authority verifies your document, MEA attaches a Slovenia apostille and the paper is ready to travel. Slovenian offices usually want a Slovenian translation by a court interpreter. Ask the receiving office whether a translation made abroad is acceptable before arranging one.
Court interpreters and the Slovenian language
Slovenia is a small country with its own language, and its offices work in Slovenian. The translation that most offices trust is one made by a court interpreter, a translator appointed by the Ministry of Justice. That translator usually binds the translation to the apostilled original. For that reason, the translation is the last step and normally happens in Slovenia.
Before you start, ask the Slovenian office whether it needs a court interpreter's translation, and whether English might be accepted for your particular paper. Some universities and employers accept English.

Who needs Indian papers in Slovenia
Indian software engineers, researchers and skilled workers take jobs in Slovenia, and some students study at Slovenian universities. Their files typically need a degree, a police certificate and, for families, birth and marriage certificates. Indian exporters of pharmaceuticals, chemicals and engineering goods may also need company papers for Slovenian partners or registration.
Slovenian employers often handle the single permit application for the worker. The employer sends a list, and the worker gathers the Indian papers. Among them, the police certificate is the one with the shortest useful life, so request it last. Our PCC apostille page explains how each type of police certificate is verified before MEA.
Getting a Slovenia apostille in India
- Find the right first authority. Degrees go to the university or state education department. Birth, marriage and police certificates go to the state Home or GAD department, or notary and SDM in states that allow it. Company papers go to a Chamber of Commerce.
- The authority verifies the signature and stamps the paper.
- MEA adds the apostille through its authorised outsourced centre. It checks the verifying officer's signature, not the content.
See our degree certificate apostille page if your degree is the main paper.
A Slovenia apostille is a numbered sheet attached to your document. Slovenian officials can check it against the Indian record. It does not need renewal, but the underlying certificate may need to be recent. Marriage and birth records should be the full versions that show parents' names, since Slovenian registry offices often ask for those details.
Recognition of Indian degrees
Slovenian employers and universities may ask for the degree to be recognised or evaluated before they accept it for certain jobs or study programmes. That process is run in Slovenia. It usually starts with an apostilled degree and transcripts, plus a translation. Bring all marksheets, not only the final degree, because evaluators look at subjects and credits.
Company papers for Slovenian partners
A Slovenian distributor or the business register may ask for a certificate of incorporation, articles of association, a board resolution or a power of attorney. These are signed by the authorised signatory, notarised where needed, authenticated by the chamber, and then apostilled. Read our commercial documents attestation page for the chamber stage.
Agree the exact wording of any power of attorney with your Slovenian lawyer before the signatory signs. Any change after the apostille means repeating the whole chain.
