Kyrgyzstan Apostille for Indian Medical Students and Families

Most Kyrgyzstan requests we see come from students heading to medical universities in Bishkek, Osh and other cities. Their school certificates and birth certificate need a Kyrgyzstan apostille from India's Ministry of External Affairs (MEA), placed after the state education or home department authenticates them. Kyrgyz universities and offices then want a Russian translation, usually done and notarised in Kyrgyzstan.

Quick answer

Which documents do MBBS students need apostilled for Kyrgyzstan? Universities commonly ask for Class 10 and Class 12 marksheets and pass certificates, a birth certificate, and sometimes a medical or police certificate. Each gets a Kyrgyzstan apostille from the MEA after state authentication. No embassy stamp is needed. The university or its agent usually arranges the Russian translation and notarisation after you arrive.

The MBBS Student Document Set

Kyrgyz medical universities admit many Indian students each year. The university needs to see your school record and identity before it registers you and before you get residence registration. The usual set is the Class 10 marksheet and certificate, the Class 12 marksheet and certificate, and a birth certificate.

Send all of them together. Different boards follow different authentication routes, and a CBSE certificate and a state board certificate can need different handling. We check each one and tell you which steps apply before starting.

Kyrgyzstan Apostille Route From India

  1. Board or state authentication for school documents, through the state education department or the board's verification arrangement.
  2. Home or GAD department, or notary and SDM, for the birth certificate.
  3. MEA Apostille on each authenticated document.

No visit to the Kyrgyz Embassy in New Delhi is needed. More on the MEA step is on our MEA Apostille guide.

Russian Translation and Notarisation

Kyrgyz offices work in Russian and Kyrgyz. Universities usually ask for a Russian translation of each apostilled document, notarised by a notary in Kyrgyzstan. Many universities or their admission partners arrange this after arrival.

If your university wants the translation done before you travel, we can arrange Russian translation in India. Confirm first that the university accepts an Indian translation, since some insist on a Kyrgyz notary.

Plan Around Results and Admission Dates

Class 12 results and university intake dates are close together. Original marksheets sometimes reach students weeks after results are declared, and the Apostille cannot start without them. Collect originals as soon as the board issues them.

If a duplicate or corrected marksheet is pending from the board, wait for it before starting. An Apostille placed on the wrong version has to be redone from the first step.

Get the birth certificate apostille done earlier, since it does not depend on results. Our birth certificate apostille page explains the state step.

Kyrgyz Documents Coming Back to India

When students finish their degree in Kyrgyzstan, the Kyrgyz diploma is legalized by the Kyrgyz authorities, not by the Indian MEA. The MEA Apostille is only for documents issued in India. If you need help with an Indian document for Kyrgyzstan later, such as a marriage certificate, the same Indian route applies.

Families, Workers and Traders

Students are the largest group, but they are not the only one. Parents visiting or living with students may need apostilled birth or marriage certificates for residence registration. Indian professionals working in Kyrgyzstan may need an apostilled degree for their employer. Indian exporters of medicines, textiles and food products to Central Asia may be asked for apostilled company and shipment papers, which go through a Chamber of Commerce before the MEA.

For all of these, plan a Russian translation after the Apostille. See commercial document attestation for the export side.

What to Send

  • Spelling of names differing between passport and marksheet
  • Paying for embassy attestation, which Kyrgyzstan does not need from India
  • Waiting for the visa before starting the Apostille
