Seychelles Apostille for Indian Workers and Businesses
Many Indian teachers, nurses, engineers, hospitality staff and traders work in Seychelles, and their employers often ask for a Seychelles apostille on Indian certificates. The apostille is issued by India's Ministry of External Affairs. Seychelles is an Apostille Convention party, so the High Commission does not legalize the document.

Documents from India for Seychelles
Which documents do Seychelles employers usually want apostilled? Most often the highest degree or diploma, experience letters where the employer asks for them, and a police clearance certificate for the work permit. Family members may need birth and marriage certificates. Each is verified by the right Indian authority and then MEA issues the Seychelles apostille. English documents usually need no translation in Seychelles.
Work permits drive most requests
Seychelles has a small population and relies on foreign professionals in teaching, health care, construction and tourism. Indian nationals are a large part of that workforce. Before a work permit is granted, the employer usually collects copies of qualifications and a police certificate, and some employers or the authorities ask for these to carry an apostille.
The employer's or recruiter's list is your best guide. If it says "apostilled" or "attested", send us that list and we will plan the route.
Recruiters sometimes say "attestation" when they mean the Seychelles apostille. For Seychelles, the MEA apostille is the correct final step.

Teachers, nurses and engineers
Teaching and health posts often involve a registration step in Seychelles. The registering body may want to see the degree, the mark sheets and evidence of registration in India. Keep copies of everything you submit and make sure the names on the degree and passport match. Our degree certificate apostille page covers how university documents are verified.
A police clearance certificate is usually requested close to the permit application, as older certificates may not be accepted.
Language in Seychelles
Seychelles has three official languages: English, French and Seychellois Creole. English is widely used in government and business, so most Indian certificates in English are accepted without translation. Certificates in Hindi or another Indian language usually need an English translation, which we can arrange through our translation service.
Indian traders and companies
Indian businesses supply food products, building materials, textiles and consumer goods to Seychelles, and some Indian families run shops and companies there. Registering a company, opening a bank account or appointing a local agent may require apostilled company documents and powers of attorney. These go through a Chamber of Commerce before MEA. See commercial documents attestation for details.
For goods, a buyer or bank may ask for apostilled trade papers such as a certificate of origin. Keep names and invoice numbers consistent across every document.
Timing and the work permit
Employers in Seychelles often want papers ready before the work permit application is filed, and job offers can come with short deadlines. We cannot promise a fixed number of days, because state departments and MEA centres work at their own pace. What helps most is sending the full set at once rather than one paper at a time.
If you already know your joining date, tell us when you send the documents. We will tell you which papers to put first and whether the date looks realistic. Starting your Seychelles apostille as soon as you accept the offer gives the most room.
Common mistakes
- Sending a laminated diploma, which cannot be stamped.
- Applying for the police certificate too early.
- Different spellings of a name across the passport, degree and experience letter.
- Asking the High Commission to stamp an apostilled document.
