Do I need the Turkish Embassy for Indian documents? Not for public documents covered by the Convention. After the state department, notary and SDM, or Chamber of Commerce step in India, MEA adds the Turkey apostille and the Indian process is complete. In Türkiye the document is normally translated into Turkish by a sworn translator, and a Turkish notary certifies the translation before you file it.
The Turkish translation and notary step
For most Indian applicants the apostille is the easy part. The careful part is the Turkish version. Turkish authorities generally accept translations made by sworn translators and approved by a Turkish notary (noter). This is done in Türkiye, after the apostilled original arrives.

The translator should translate the apostille certificate along with the document. Turkish spellings of Indian names can vary, so give the translator a passport copy and ask them to follow the passport spelling exactly.

Indian students in Türkiye
Turkish universities admit Indian students to medicine, engineering and other programmes. They usually ask for school certificates and mark sheets, and degree papers for postgraduate study. Some programmes also require an equivalence decision for school qualifications from the Turkish education ministry. Apostilled originals are the base for these steps.
Marriage and residence permits
Indians marrying in Türkiye, or applying for family residence, usually need a birth certificate and proof of marital status. Turkish marriage offices often have a fixed list and may want recently issued documents. Ask for that list early, and apostille everything in one round.

Trade and company papers
Türkiye buys Indian chemicals, yarn, machinery parts and food products. Turkish importers, banks and trade registries may ask for an apostilled certificate of incorporation, a power of attorney for a local representative, or apostilled certificates of origin. Company documents start with a Chamber of Commerce.
Keep the consignee, invoice number and goods description identical across the invoice, packing list and certificate of origin. A power of attorney for Türkiye should name the representative exactly as in their Turkish identity papers, and it should be signed by a director or an authorised signatory backed by a board resolution. Work permits and professional jobs
Indian engineers, IT specialists, hotel staff and managers are hired by companies in Türkiye. A work permit application is filed by the employer, and supporting papers often include an apostilled degree. Regulated professions, such as medicine, may need extra recognition steps with Turkish authorities before you can practise.
Experience letters are private papers. They are first notarised in India, then verified and apostilled. Ask your employer whether it needs them at all, since many Turkish employers rely on the degree alone for the permit.
