Zimbabwe Embassy Attestation for Graduates, Professionals and Exporters

Zimbabwe embassy attestation is the route for Indian documents going to Zimbabwe: authentication by the state department, notary and SDM or Chamber of Commerce, attestation by the Ministry of External Affairs (MEA), and legalization by Zimbabwe's embassy in New Delhi. English is an official language in Zimbabwe, so Indian documents in English rarely need a translation.

Quick answer

Can I send an Apostille to Zimbabwe instead? For documents from India, plan on Zimbabwe embassy attestation. The document is authenticated by the state department or a Chamber of Commerce, attested by the MEA and then legalized by Zimbabwe's embassy in New Delhi. If a Zimbabwean office tells you in writing that it accepts an Apostille, share that with us and we will advise on the simpler route.

Zimbabwean Graduates of Indian Universities

India hosts many students from Zimbabwe in engineering, medicine, pharmacy, business and IT. On returning home, graduates may need legalized degrees for employment, professional registration or further study. The degree and transcripts go through the state education department of the university's state, then the MEA, then the embassy.

Zimbabwe's higher education regulator may also evaluate foreign qualifications. That is a separate process from legalization. Keep the attested originals and copies of your transcripts ready for it. Our degree certificate page explains the Indian state step.

Zimbabwe Embassy Attestation Step by Step

  1. Authentication. Degrees: state education department. Birth and marriage certificates and affidavits: state home or GAD department, or notary and SDM. Company papers: Chamber of Commerce.
  2. MEA attestation. The MEA verifies the authenticating signature and stamps the document.
  3. Embassy legalization. Zimbabwe's embassy in New Delhi legalizes the MEA-attested document.

Indian Doctors, Teachers and Engineers

Indian professionals take up posts in Zimbabwe in health, education, mining and engineering. Employers and professional councils commonly ask for legalized degrees, registration certificates and experience letters. Some also want a police clearance certificate. A PCC attestation follows its own path through the passport office or state police.

Indian Exporters and Investors

Indian companies supply Zimbabwe with pharmaceuticals, vehicles, tractors, machinery and food products, and some invest in mining and agriculture. Buyers, banks and regulators may ask for legalized company and shipment papers, such as the certificate of incorporation, power of attorney, certificate of origin and free sale certificate. These go to a Chamber of Commerce first, then the MEA and the embassy. See commercial document attestation.

Family and Civil Documents

Zimbabwean and Indian families may need legalized birth and marriage certificates for residence, citizenship or school enrolment. Use certificates issued by the registrar. Since both countries use English, the main risk is spelling: names must match exactly across passport, certificate and any affidavit.

Older Indian birth certificates sometimes show only a first name, or were registered without the child's name at all. Ask the municipal registrar to add the name or issue a full copy before you start. The state department will authenticate the certificate exactly as it stands, so any gap carries through to the embassy stage and into Zimbabwe.

Medical and Pharmacy Graduates

Graduates in medicine, nursing, dentistry and pharmacy face the most paperwork. Zimbabwean professional councils commonly ask for the degree, transcripts, an internship completion certificate and proof of registration with the Indian council. Each of these needs to be in a form that an Indian authority can authenticate.

Internship certificates and council letters are issued by colleges, hospitals or councils rather than universities. Make sure each is signed by a named officer with a designation and a stamp. Unsigned or digitally generated printouts are often refused at the state stage. Send us the full list from the council and we will check each paper before starting the Zimbabwe embassy attestation.

What to Send

  • Original degree with all transcripts, or civil certificate
  • Passport copy
  • For companies: signed and stamped copies on letterhead
  • Any document list from the Zimbabwean employer or office

We quote per document in writing before you send. Returns go by Blue Dart or a similar tracked courier.

Mistakes to Avoid

  • Getting only the MEA stamp and skipping the embassy
  • Laminated degrees that cannot be stamped
  • Provisional certificates where a final degree exists
  • Assuming legalization replaces the regulator's own degree evaluation
