Experience Certificate Apostille and Attestation for Jobs and Licences Abroad
An experience certificate apostille, or embassy attestation for Gulf countries, lets a foreign employer or licensing body rely on a work letter from your Indian employer. No government office issues this letter: your company writes it on its letterhead and an authorised officer signs it. INFINITYGRO checks the letter, then takes it through the notary, SDM and Ministry of External Affairs.

Does an experience certificate need attestation for a Gulf job? Often, yes. Gulf employers and health or engineering licensing bodies frequently ask for the experience letter to be attested. For the UAE, Qatar or Kuwait that means notary, SDM, MEA attestation and the embassy. For Saudi Arabia, Oman and Bahrain, which are Apostille countries, an experience certificate apostille from the MEA is the final step.
The letter decides everything
With an experience certificate, the stamps are the easy part. Problems usually come from the letter itself. A foreign employer or licensing body reads it to confirm your job title, your dates and that the company exists. If the letter is vague, the attested copy will be vague too.
Before you ask your employer, find out exactly what the receiving side wants. Some want only dates and designation. A few want salary details too. Others, especially licensing bodies for nurses, doctors, engineers and teachers, want duties, working hours or the department you worked in.

What a good experience letter contains
- Printed on original company letterhead, with full address and contact details.
- A reference number and date of issue.
- Your full name as on your passport.
- Designation, department and exact joining and leaving dates (or "currently working").
- A short description of duties if the licensing body needs it.
- Signature, name and designation of the authorised signatory, plus the company seal or stamp.
Avoid letters signed by a colleague with no clear authority, letters without a date, or letters printed on plain paper with a logo pasted at the top. These are the first to be questioned. If your employer issues letters digitally, ask for a signed and stamped paper original as well.
Why Gulf work visas and licences ask for it
Gulf countries tie work permits to qualifications and experience, especially for skilled and professional jobs. Health authorities, engineering councils and teaching regulators may treat attested experience as part of a licence file. Employers there also use it to set salary grade or job category.
Outside the Gulf, the request comes from licensing bodies and immigration programmes in Europe, Canada or Australia. They usually want the experience letter together with your degree certificate and sometimes a police clearance certificate.

Experience certificate apostille or embassy attestation
An experience letter is a private document, so an officer has to authenticate it before the MEA will act. On the Delhi route, a notary attests the copy, the SDM in Delhi verifies the notary, and the MEA adds its stamp. Where the receiving office asks for state authentication, the Home or General Administration Department of the state is used instead. If an embassy checklist asks for Chamber of Commerce authentication of a company letter, we follow it.
- Saudi Arabia, Oman, Bahrain and other Apostille countries such as the UK, USA, Canada, Australia, most of Europe, Japan, South Korea and Turkey: the MEA experience certificate apostille is final.
- UAE: MEA attestation, UAE Embassy in New Delhi, then UAE MOFA online. See UAE attestation fees.
- Qatar and Kuwait: MEA attestation, then the embassy.
- China and Germany follow their own rules, so ask us first.
Several employers, several letters
Each experience letter is a separate document for legalization. If you worked for three companies, the licensing body may want all three attested, each with its own stamps and fees. Check whether it needs every job or only the most recent years. Bundling them together in one courier keeps cost and time down, but each letter still goes through the chain on its own.
If a former employer has closed, a letter signed while it was running can still be legalized if it is on letterhead and properly signed. Getting a fresh letter may not be possible. Keep the original safe, and send us a scan first so we can check it.
Relieving letters, salary slips and other proof
Some files ask for a relieving letter, appointment letter or salary slips alongside the experience certificate. These can be legalized the same way when the receiving side insists. Most Gulf employers, however, need only the experience letter and your educational documents. Do not legalize papers nobody asked for. If the receiving office works in Arabic or another language, a translation may be needed; we arrange this through our translation service.
Where experience letters get stuck
Most delays we see have the same few causes. The name on the letter is a short form or nickname, while the passport carries the full name. The joining date on the letter does not match the date on the CV or the visa application. The signatory has left the company and the new HR team will not confirm the letter. The seal is missing, or the letterhead is a colour photocopy.
Another frequent issue is the route. A candidate gets an experience certificate apostille for a job in Dubai, then learns the UAE needs embassy attestation instead. An apostilled letter cannot be switched to the embassy route. Confirm the country before you send the letter, and tell us if the job offer changes while the work is in progress.
Sending the letter and getting a quote
- The original signed experience letter.
- A copy of your passport.
- The country, employer or licensing body, and its checklist.
Delhi NCR clients can drop letters at our New Ashok Nagar office; others courier them in, and we return them by Blue Dart or a similar tracked courier. Our all-inclusive Delhi route fee is Rs 1,000 to Rs 1,500 per document, including the Rs 50 MEA fee, and usually takes 2 to 3 working days. Embassy attestation for the UAE, Qatar or Kuwait adds the embassy's own processing time, and embassy fees are extra. Ask for a written quote on the contact page.

Experience Certificate apostille FAQs
Can my experience certificate be attested if the company is in another state?
Yes. Send us the original letter. The Delhi route is widely accepted for documents from any state. If your destination asks for state authentication, we tell you before starting.
Does the MEA verify my employment with the company?
No. The MEA checks only the authenticating officer's signature. The foreign employer or licensing body may verify your employment directly with the company.
Do I need an experience certificate apostille for Saudi Arabia?
Saudi Arabia is an Apostille country, so the MEA Apostille is the final step if your employer or licensing body asks for legalization.
Can a scanned or emailed letter be attested?
No. We need the original letter with a wet signature and company seal. A printout of an emailed PDF without a signature will not pass.
My letter says "To whom it may concern" with no details. Is it enough?
Often not. Licensing bodies usually want dates, designation and duties. Ask your employer for a fuller letter before attestation.
I work in IT. Do I still need attestation?
It depends on the country and the visa type, not the industry. Many Gulf employers ask for attested education and experience papers for skilled roles. Check the visa checklist your employer sends.
Should I attest my degree at the same time?
Usually yes for Gulf jobs. Sending both together saves courier costs, and they move through the chain side by side.
