BTech Certificate Apostille and Attestation for BE, MTech and ME Graduates

A BTech certificate apostille lets an Indian engineering degree be accepted by an employer, university or engineering council in an Apostille country. The degree is awarded by the university your college is affiliated to, or by an institute that grants its own degrees, such as an IIT or NIT. The same process applies to BE, MTech and ME degrees.

Quick answer

Is a BE degree attested any differently from a BTech? No. BE and BTech are two names for an undergraduate engineering degree, and MTech and ME are their postgraduate versions. Each is a university or institute document, so each takes the same route: Delhi notary and SDM, the state department, or e-Sanad, followed by a BTech certificate apostille or MEA attestation and, for Gulf countries, the embassy.

Where engineers need attested degrees

Engineering is one of the professions most often checked for work visas. Gulf contractors, oil and gas firms and infrastructure companies ask for attested degrees before the visa is stamped. In some Gulf countries, the engineering title on a residence permit depends on a degree the authorities have accepted.

Outside the Gulf, the requests come from universities admitting you to a master's programme, from skills assessment bodies, and from engineering councils that register professional engineers. Japan and South Korea, both Apostille countries, also see a steady flow of Indian IT and manufacturing hires.

The purpose changes which documents you need, not the route itself. A work visa file often needs only the degree. A master's admission or council registration usually adds transcripts. Ask the receiving office before you start, since adding a document later means a second round of notary, SDM and MEA work and a second courier.

BE, BTech, ME and MTech: one process, four names

Indian universities use different names for the same level of study. Anna University and many older universities award a BE. Most newer universities and the IITs award a BTech. At postgraduate level you see ME or MTech. Our old site had separate pages for each. They now redirect here because the work is identical.

What matters for attestation is who signed the degree, not its name. A degree from a state university and one from a central institute both carry a registrar or controller of examinations signature that the chain can verify. If your degree uses a lateral entry or distance mode, mention it so we can check whether the receiving office has extra rules.

BTech certificate apostille: the steps in order

  1. We check the original degree and any mark sheets for name and date consistency against your passport.
  2. On the Delhi route, a notary attests each document and the SDM in Delhi verifies the notary.
  3. If the employer insists on state verification, the papers go to the education or HRD department of the issuing state instead.
  4. If your university is on e-Sanad, verification can happen online against the university's record.
  5. The MEA then issues an apostille or, for embassy-route countries, its normal attestation stamp.

The Delhi route usually takes 2 to 3 working days. The MEA fee is Rs 50 per apostille and our all-inclusive price is Rs 1,000 to Rs 1,500 per document.

Transcripts for engineering councils and universities

Many overseas bodies want more than the degree. They want a transcript showing every semester, the subjects and the grading scale. Some Indian universities issue a single consolidated transcript; others issue one mark sheet per semester. Each sheet is a separate document for attestation.

Engineering councils and assessment bodies abroad sometimes ask the university to send the transcript directly in a sealed envelope. A sealed envelope cannot be stamped. If you need a legalized transcript as well, ask your university for an extra loose copy. Our transcript attestation page covers this in detail.

Gulf embassy attestation and other country rules

For the UAE, the degree gets MEA attestation, then UAE Embassy attestation in New Delhi, then UAE MOFA online. Read our UAE attestation fees page before you apply. Qatar and Kuwait also need MEA attestation followed by their embassy in New Delhi. Saudi Arabia, Oman and Bahrain accept the apostille.

A BTech certificate apostille is the end of the road for Apostille countries. Germany does not legalize Indian documents, and may instead verify a degree through its embassy. Chinese authorities need MEA attestation and the Chinese Embassy, since the apostille does not apply between India and China. For anywhere else, the embassy attestation service page lists the general route.

Checks to run before you courier anything

Most delays in engineering files start before the papers reach us. Read the receiving office's list line by line. Some employers ask for the degree only. Others ask for the degree plus every semester mark sheet. A university abroad may want a transcript showing credits.

Next, compare spellings. Your name, father's name and date of birth should match across the degree, the mark sheets and your passport. A missing middle name or a swapped initial can lead an embassy to reject the file.

Finally, confirm the country route. Ordering a BTech certificate apostille for a Kuwait job wastes time and money, because Kuwait needs embassy attestation. If you are unsure, send us the checklist on WhatsApp and we will confirm the route and the per-document quote in writing.

Papers that travel with the degree

Employers often ask for the documents that led up to the degree. These include your 12th certificate, a provisional certificate if the final degree is not yet out, and a migration certificate. Each is attested on its own. Send them in one courier to save return costs.

What to send and what to avoid

  • Original BE, BTech, ME or MTech degree
  • Semester mark sheets or consolidated transcript, if requested
  • Passport copy
  • The employer's or university's checklist

Avoid laminating the degree. Do not send a provisional certificate in place of the final degree unless the receiving office accepts it. Check that your name on the degree matches your passport; if not, an affidavit may be needed. If the destination needs Arabic or another language, we can arrange certified translation. Send papers by tracked courier to our New Ashok Nagar office; we return them by Blue Dart or similar.

Questions

BTech Certificate apostille FAQs

Can a BTech certificate apostille be done if my university is in another state?

Yes. The Delhi notary and SDM route is accepted for degrees from any state. You do not need to travel to your university's state unless the receiving office asks for state department verification.

Do I need my BTech mark sheets attested too?

Only if the employer or university asks. Many Gulf employers want the degree alone, while universities and councils abroad usually want transcripts as well.

My degree says BE but my offer letter says BTech. Is that a problem?

Usually not, since both are undergraduate engineering degrees. If the employer is strict, ask them to confirm in writing that a BE is acceptable.

Is an IIT degree attested differently?

No. An IIT, NIT or deemed university degree is signed by the institute's own officer, and it goes through the same Delhi, state or e-Sanad routes.

Can I get an apostille for the UAE?

No. The UAE is an embassy-attestation country. Your degree needs MEA attestation, UAE Embassy attestation and UAE MOFA.

How long does a BTech certificate apostille take?

The Delhi route usually takes 2 to 3 working days once the papers reach us. Courier time to and from our office is extra, and embassy attestation for Gulf countries adds the embassy's own processing time.

Is the MTech degree a separate charge?

Yes. Every document, including each postgraduate degree, is a separate apostille or attestation. We confirm the total per document in writing before you courier anything.
