Internship Certificate Apostille for Study, Licensing and Work Abroad

An internship certificate apostille is needed when a foreign university, medical council or employer wants proof of the practical training you did in India. Unlike a degree, an internship certificate can come from a hospital, a company, a law firm or your own college, so the signature on it decides how the document is handled. INFINITYGRO checks who signed it, prepares it for notary and SDM verification in Delhi and takes it to the Ministry of External Affairs.

Quick answer

Who should sign an internship certificate before it is apostilled? The head of the issuing institution or an authorised officer, such as the hospital medical superintendent, the college principal or the company's HR head, on letterhead with a seal. For an internship certificate apostille, the paper must show the issuer's name, your dates and a clear signature. Unsigned or e-mailed copies without a seal are usually refused at the verification stage.

Who asks for an apostilled internship certificate

Internship papers usually matter in three situations.

  • Medical and health licensing. Doctors, dentists, physiotherapists and nurses applying abroad are often asked to prove the compulsory internship that came after their course. The certificate travels with the degree.
  • Further study. Some universities ask for evidence of practical training when you apply for a master's or a credit transfer.
  • Employment. An overseas employer may count an internship as experience, especially in engineering, pharmacy and hospitality.

If you are a doctor, send the internship certificate together with your MBBS degree so the two are processed as one set.

The signature is everything

The MEA verifies a signature, not the content of your internship. On the Delhi route, the notary and SDM must be satisfied that the paper comes from a real issuer. So we look closely at how the certificate was signed.

  • Printed on the issuer's letterhead with address and contact details.
  • Signed in ink by a named officer with a designation.
  • Carries the institution's round seal or stamp.
  • Shows the start date, end date and the department or role.

A certificate generated by an internship platform and signed only digitally may need a fresh signed copy from the company. Ask the issuer before you courier it.

Internship certificate apostille step by step

  1. Review. You send photos on WhatsApp. We confirm the route for your country.
  2. Notary. The certificate is notarised in Delhi.
  3. SDM. The SDM verifies the notary's signature.
  4. MEA. The MEA adds an apostille, or a normal attestation stamp for embassy countries.
  5. Embassy, if needed. UAE, Qatar, Kuwait and similar countries need embassy legalization after the MEA. The UAE also needs MOFA attestation, done online.

The Delhi route usually takes 2 to 3 working days at our end for an internship certificate apostille. Embassy countries take longer. Read more about how the MEA apostille in India works.

Training certificates are covered here too

Our old training certificate page now points to this one. A training certificate from a company, hospital or recognised institute is handled the same way as an internship certificate. The checks are identical: letterhead, ink signature, seal and dates.

Some training certificates come from bodies that are not educational institutions at all, such as a private software academy. These can still be notarised and verified, but a foreign authority may treat them as a private document. If your checklist mentions an accredited body, make sure the issuer is one.

Industrial training done as part of a BTech or diploma course is a common example. The certificate may come from the company, while the college confirms it on the mark sheet. Send both if your university abroad wants to see the training reflected in your academic record. Apprenticeship and trade training certificates are covered on our ITI certificate page.

What a good internship certificate says

Foreign reviewers read the certificate, even though the MEA does not. A vague one-line letter can satisfy the stamp and still disappoint the council or university that receives it. If your issuer is willing to reissue it, ask them to include:

  • Your full name as it appears on your passport.
  • The exact start and end dates, not just a month.
  • The department, unit or postings you rotated through.
  • Total hours or weeks, where your field counts them.
  • A statement that the internship was completed satisfactorily.

Medical graduates should check that the rotating internship postings match what their foreign licensing body expects. If a posting is missing, the fix has to come from the college, not from us. Once the wording is right, the internship certificate apostille itself is quick.

Keep the reissued certificate flat and unfolded. A crease through the signature or seal can make a verifying officer hesitate.

When the state route applies

Internship certificates issued by a government hospital or a state university can also go through the issuing state's education or health department before the MEA. We use this route only when the destination's checklist asks for it. For everyone else, the Delhi route accepts papers from any state and is simpler.

Internship certificates are rarely available on e-Sanad, because most issuers are not connected to it. If your university is connected, we will tell you.

What to send us

  • Original internship or training certificate, unlaminated.
  • Your degree or provisional certificate, if the checklist requires both.
  • Passport copy.
  • The checklist from the university, council or employer.

Delhi NCR clients can drop off at our New Ashok Nagar office. Others courier in, and we return papers by Blue Dart or a similar tracked courier. We do not offer home pickup.

Fees

Our all-inclusive Delhi route costs Rs 1,000 to Rs 1,500 per document. This covers notary, SDM, the Rs 50 MEA fee and our service. Courier is extra. Embassy fees are added for non-Apostille countries. We quote per document in writing before you send anything.

Many clients send an internship certificate together with a degree, mark sheets and a course and conduct certificate. Each is a separate document with its own fee, so count them before you ask for a quote. Sending the full set in one courier saves you a second round of shipping.

Common problems

  • Certificate signed by a supervisor without a designation or seal.
  • Dates missing, or a certificate that says only "successfully completed".
  • Name spelled differently from the passport.
  • Apostille ordered for the UAE, which needs the embassy route.
  • Laminated or torn originals.

Questions

Internship Certificate apostille FAQs

Can a company internship certificate be apostilled?

Yes, if it is on company letterhead with an ink signature, the signatory's designation and a seal. We confirm from a photo before you send it.

Is an MBBS internship certificate handled separately from the degree?

Yes. Each certificate gets its own apostille, but we process them together so the set stays consistent.

Do I need an internship certificate apostille for the UAE?

The UAE does not use apostille. It needs MEA attestation, then the UAE Embassy, then UAE MOFA. See our UAE charges page.

My internship certificate was emailed as a PDF. What now?

Ask the issuer for a signed and sealed paper copy. A PDF with no ink signature or seal is hard to get verified.

Can you attest a training certificate from a private institute?

Often yes, after notary and SDM verification. Whether the foreign authority accepts it depends on their rules.

Can a foreign university contact my internship hospital directly?

Some do, especially medical councils. An apostille does not replace that check. It only confirms the signature on the paper you hand over.
