Course and Conduct Certificate Apostille for Students Going Abroad
A course and conduct certificate apostille gives a foreign university or visa office an authenticated statement from your Indian college that you studied a named course and behaved well while enrolled. The certificate is issued by the principal of your college or by the university registrar, usually on request after you finish or while you are still studying. INFINITYGRO prepares it for verification and gets it apostilled or attested by the Ministry of External Affairs.

Degree certificate apostille sample
Is a course and conduct certificate the same as a character certificate? Not quite. A character certificate speaks only about behaviour. A course and conduct certificate also confirms the course, the years of study and your enrolment status, so it doubles as proof of study. For a course and conduct certificate apostille, the college must sign and seal it on letterhead, and the MEA then authenticates that signature.
What the certificate actually proves
A degree tells a reader what you earned. A course and conduct certificate tells them how you got there. It records the programme you were enrolled in, the academic sessions you attended and a short remark on your conduct, typically that it was good or satisfactory.
Institutions abroad like it because it fills gaps. It can confirm study when the final degree has not been issued yet. It can show continuous enrolment for a visa officer. It can also reassure an admissions office that no disciplinary action is on record.

Who asks you for it
- Universities abroad processing admission, transfer or credit recognition.
- Visa offices wanting evidence of study history or a study gap explanation.
- Scholarship bodies and foreign ministries handling student exchange.
- Employers hiring fresh graduates before the final degree is out.
Students heading to Apostille countries such as the UK, Japan or South Korea need only the MEA apostille. Students going to the UAE or Qatar need the embassy route described below.
Read the receiving institution's instructions closely. Some ask for the certificate in a sealed college envelope, which cannot be stamped. Others ask for an apostilled original. If both appear on the same list, ask the college for two copies: one to keep sealed and one for us to legalize. That way you avoid a second trip to the college office.
Getting it issued correctly by your college
Most colleges issue this certificate on a written application, sometimes with a small fee. Ask for it on official letterhead. Before you leave the office, check the paper against this list.
- Your full name matches your passport.
- The course name is written in full, for example Bachelor of Commerce, not just BCom.
- The session or years of study are stated.
- Your roll or enrolment number appears.
- The principal or registrar signs in ink, with name, designation and seal.
- The date of issue is on the certificate.
Some foreign offices want it issued recently. If yours is more than a few months old, check whether a fresh copy is needed.

Course and conduct certificate apostille routes
Delhi route. Notary in Delhi, SDM verification, then the MEA. It accepts certificates from colleges in every state. At our end it usually takes 2 to 3 working days.
State route. The issuing state's Education or HRD department verifies the principal's or registrar's signature, then the MEA authenticates. Use this when your checklist demands it.
e-Sanad. Some universities connected to e-Sanad can issue documents through it. Course and conduct certificates are usually college letters and are not often available that way, but we check for you.

Embassy countries
The UAE needs MEA attestation, then UAE Embassy attestation in New Delhi, then UAE MOFA attestation online. Qatar, Kuwait, Egypt and Iraq need MEA attestation followed by their embassy. China is a special case: India objected to China's accession to the Apostille Convention, so Indian documents for China still go through the Chinese Embassy route. Germany does not legalize Indian documents and may verify them through the German Embassy instead. See our embassy attestation service.
Papers that usually travel with it
A course and conduct certificate is rarely sent alone. Students often need it with a bonafide certificate, a migration certificate, a transcript or the degree. Each document gets its own apostille, so count them all before asking for a quote.
Courier the originals to our New Ashok Nagar office in Delhi, or drop them off if you are in Delhi NCR. We return papers by Blue Dart or a similar tracked courier. Include a passport copy and the checklist from the receiving institution.
Keep each original in a separate sleeve and do not staple anything to it. If a document is in a regional language, tell us when you send photos so we can plan a translation in the same round.
Fees
Our all-inclusive Delhi route fee is Rs 1,000 to Rs 1,500 per document, covering notary, SDM, the MEA fee of Rs 50 and our service. Courier is extra. Embassy fees for non-Apostille countries are added on top. We send a written quote before you courier anything, so you know the total for each course and conduct certificate apostille and every other paper in the set.
Awkward cases we see often
The college changed its name
Colleges merge, get renamed or move to a new affiliating university. Ask the current principal to issue the certificate and to mention the old name in the text. A short line such as "formerly known as" helps a foreign reader connect it to your degree.
You studied at two colleges
If you transferred midway, each college can only speak for the years you spent there. Request one certificate from each and send both. Your migration certificate explains the move.
Distance or open learning
Distance learners do not attend a college in the usual sense. The university's regional centre or registrar may issue a study certificate in place of a conduct remark. Check what your receiving office will accept before you apply.
The deadline is close
Ask your college for the certificate before anything else. It is often the slowest step, because the office has to look up old records. Once it is signed, the course and conduct certificate apostille on the Delhi route is quick.
What causes rejection
- A certificate signed by a clerk or class teacher rather than the principal or registrar.
- No seal, or a seal that does not name the institution.
- Abbreviated course names that the receiving office cannot match to your transcript.
- Lamination.
- Apostille ordered for an embassy-route country.

Course and Conduct Certificate apostille FAQs
Who can sign a course and conduct certificate?
The principal of the college or the registrar of the university. A signature from a lower official may not be accepted for verification.
Can I get a course and conduct certificate apostille while still studying?
Yes. Colleges issue it to current students too. It will then say you are pursuing the course rather than that you completed it.
Does the MEA check my conduct remark?
No. The MEA authenticates the signature only. The content remains your college's statement.
Is it different from a bonafide certificate?
A bonafide certificate confirms you are a student. A course and conduct certificate also records the course period and your behaviour. Some checklists ask for both.
Do you translate it?
We arrange certified translation when the destination needs it in another language.
My college is in Tamil Nadu. Do I go to Chennai?
No. The Delhi route accepts certificates from any state. Courier it to us and we handle the rest.
