Where is a Mizoram degree verified before the MEA apostille? In Aizawl, the MEA list names the Under Secretary, Higher and Technical Education Department, for educational documents. That is the state route for a degree certificate apostille in Mizoram. Most graduates use the Delhi route instead, through a notary and the SDM. Both end with the MEA, which charges Rs 50 per document.
Universities that sign Mizoram degrees
Mizoram University in Aizawl is the state's central university. Pachhunga University College and most other colleges in Aizawl, Lunglei and the districts are affiliated to it. If you graduated from one of them, Mizoram University signed your degree.
NIT Mizoram awards its own B.Tech and higher degrees. ICFAI University Mizoram is a private university. The College of Veterinary Sciences and Animal Husbandry at Selesih is part of the Central Agricultural University, so its graduates hold a CAU degree.

The Higher and Technical Education route in Aizawl
For education documents, the MEA's list of state authorities includes the Under Secretary, Higher and Technical Education Department, Government of Mizoram. The Home Department in Aizawl is listed for other documents.
Choose the Aizawl route if a foreign university, regulator or employer asks for state verification in writing. Otherwise, the Delhi route is the simpler choice. There, a notary attests the original, the SDM in Delhi verifies it, and the file moves to the MEA.
The MEA has taken documents only through authorised outsourced centres since July 2012. You cannot submit the degree there yourself.
Is an online degree certificate apostille in Mizoram possible?
The MEA runs e-Sanad, an online platform for verification and apostille. Universities and boards must join it before their documents can be processed this way. Many have not joined yet.
We check whether your university is connected. If it is, the work can be done online, and you will need a passport copy because the passport number goes into the record. If it is not, we use the Delhi or Aizawl route.
Sending papers from Aizawl

Every document gets its own apostille and its own MEA fee. A degree with three mark sheets means four apostilles.
Some foreign universities want a consolidated transcript rather than separate mark sheets. Ask the receiving office which they prefer, as a single transcript means fewer apostilles.
A provisional certificate is a separate document from the final degree. Some offices abroad accept it for a short time only. Ask before you rely on it.
Why Mizo graduates need the apostille
The most common reason is further study abroad. Universities in the UK, Australia and Europe ask for apostilled degrees and transcripts as part of admission. Teachers and nurses moving overseas for work come next, followed by people applying for skilled migration or residence permits.
Each purpose has its own document list. A university may want every mark sheet, while an employer may want only the final degree. Ask first and send only what is needed. That keeps the number of apostilles, and the cost, as low as possible for your degree certificate apostille in Mizoram.
Spelling and name order
Mizo names are sometimes written in a different order, or with different spellings, on school records and passports. The MEA needs the name on the degree to match the passport. If it does not, we arrange an affidavit.
Laminated degrees cannot take the stamp, which goes on the back. If yours is laminated, ask Mizoram University about a duplicate. If any text on the degree is in Mizo, a certified English translation may be needed. We provide translation services too.
