Degree Certificate Apostille in Arunachal Pradesh, Explained Simply
If you studied at Rajiv Gandhi University near Itanagar, a degree certificate apostille in Arunachal Pradesh is how that degree becomes usable in a Hague Convention country. The university signs the degree, an Indian authority confirms that signature, and the Ministry of External Affairs (MEA) adds the apostille. INFINITYGRO Attestation, a private agency in Delhi, takes care of the paperwork for graduates from the state.

Who can verify my Rajiv Gandhi University degree before the MEA? Two authorities can verify it. In Itanagar, the MEA list names the Deputy Secretary (Home) and the Director of Higher and Technical Education. In Delhi, a notary and the SDM can verify it. Either path leads to the MEA, which completes the degree certificate apostille in Arunachal Pradesh for a fee of Rs 50 per document.
Universities behind most Arunachal degrees
Rajiv Gandhi University at Rono Hills, Doimukh, is the state's main university. It became a central university and most government colleges in the state are affiliated to it. A graduate of Dera Natung Government College or another affiliated college therefore holds a degree signed by Rajiv Gandhi University.
NERIST at Nirjuli awards its own engineering and science degrees. NIT Arunachal Pradesh does the same for its B.Tech and higher programmes. The state also has several private universities set up under state law.
Graduates of medical, law and teacher education courses may hold degrees from universities outside the state. Some studied in Guwahati, Shillong or Delhi on state quota seats. Those degrees follow the same apostille steps, but the signature belongs to the outside university.
Look at the top of your certificate. The name printed there is the body whose signature will be verified.

How a degree certificate apostille in Arunachal Pradesh is done
The MEA never verifies a degree straight from the university. It relies on a designated authority, or on the SDM in Delhi, to confirm the signature first. It then checks only that officer's signature. It does not look at your marks or grades.
- We receive your original degree and passport copy.
- We pick the route. Most clients use the Delhi route through a notary and the SDM.
- When a foreign university or regulator asks for state verification, the file goes to the Home Department or the Higher and Technical Education Directorate in Itanagar.
- The file reaches the MEA through an authorised outsourced centre.
- The apostilled degree returns to you by tracked courier.
Is your university on e-Sanad?
The MEA runs an online system called e-Sanad. Universities and boards that have joined it allow verification and the apostille to be done online. Not every institution has joined. Before you choose this route, ask your university's examination branch whether it is connected.
If it is, keep a passport copy ready. The passport number goes into the application, so it must match the name on the degree.
If it is not, the Delhi route or the Itanagar route still works. Our team checks this point at the start of every degree certificate apostille in Arunachal Pradesh, so you do not lose time on a route that cannot be used for your university.
For graduates in Itanagar
Itanagar has the state offices for the state route, but you do not need to visit them yourself. Courier the original degree from Itanagar, Naharlagun or Nirjuli to our Delhi office. If you are in Delhi NCR for work, you can drop it off at C-5 A/2 New Ashok Nagar.
We return the documents by Blue Dart or a similar tracked courier. We have no home pickup, so book the outbound courier yourself and share the tracking number with us on WhatsApp.
Documents to keep ready
- Final degree certificate, original
- Mark sheets or a consolidated transcript, if the receiving office wants them
- Passport copy
- Affidavit, only if your name differs from the passport
A provisional certificate is issued before convocation. It is not the same as the degree. A university abroad may want the final degree, so ask them before you rely on the provisional one.
Laminated certificates cannot take the MEA stamp on the back. If yours is laminated, speak to the university about a duplicate.
Countries that accept this apostille
India joined the Hague Apostille Convention on 14 July 2005. The apostille works in about 130 member countries, including the UK, USA, Canada, Australia, most of Europe, Saudi Arabia, Oman and Bahrain.
It does not work for China or Germany, and the UAE, Qatar, Kuwait and Egypt are not members. Those countries need MEA attestation followed by embassy legalization, which we also handle through our embassy attestation service.
Charges and turnaround
Your name must read the same on the degree and the passport. If the degree drops a surname or spells a clan name differently, an affidavit is needed before verification. Sort this out first, since a mismatch is the most common reason a file is held back.
For the Delhi route we charge Rs 1,000 to Rs 1,500 per document. This covers the notary, the SDM, the MEA fee of Rs 50 and our service. Courier is extra. The Delhi route usually finishes in 2 to 3 working days.
The Itanagar state route depends on the department, so we update you as it moves. To learn more about the final step, see MEA apostille in India. Graduates from nearby states can read our page on degree apostille in Assam.

Arunachal Pradesh degree certificate apostille FAQs
Does Rajiv Gandhi University issue the apostille?
No. The university only signs the degree. The apostille comes from the MEA in New Delhi after the signature is verified.
Is a walk-in submission at the MEA possible?
No. From July 2012 onward, the MEA has taken papers only from its authorised outsourced centres, so a walk-in submission is turned away.
Do I need the state route for a job in Canada?
Usually the Delhi route is enough. Use the Itanagar state route only if the employer or licensing body asks for state verification.
How long does the Itanagar route take?
We cannot give a fixed time, because the department sets its own pace. We send you an update at each stage.
How many apostilles will I need?
One for each document. A degree plus three mark sheets means four apostilles, each with its own fee.
Can I send my marriage certificate too?
Yes. See our page on marriage certificate apostille in Arunachal Pradesh for that process.
