PCC Apostille in Himachal Pradesh for Jobs and Visas
PCC apostille in Himachal Pradesh usually concerns a certificate from the Passport Office, Shimla, which the MEA lists as the state's passport office. That passport PCC needs no notary or SDM. A certificate from Himachal Pradesh Police is a separate document and takes the notary and SDM route first.

PCC apostille in Himachal Pradesh for a passport PCC
A passport officer signs the passport PCC. The MEA can verify that signature directly, so nothing is needed before the apostille.
- Collect the original PCC.
- Courier it to our Delhi office.
- We file it at the MEA through an authorised centre.
- We courier it back to you.
That makes it one of the shorter apostille jobs we handle. Most of the waiting happens before, while the PCC itself is being issued. More detail is on the MEA apostille page.
When a Himachal Police certificate is needed
Some foreign employers or licensing bodies want a certificate from the local police. Himachal Pradesh Police provides verification and character certificate services to residents. Apply for the exact certificate your instructions describe. Keep the receipt or acknowledgement in case you need to follow up with the police station.
A police officer signs this one. It is a personal document for apostille purposes. A notary attests it, then the SDM in Delhi, then the MEA. The state route uses the Home Department in Shimla before the MEA.
A letter from a pradhan or a local official is not a police certificate. Receiving offices abroad usually want a police-issued document.
Applicants from Shimla and other districts
Shimla residents have the passport office in their own city, which helps when collecting the PCC. Applicants from Kangra, Mandi, Kullu, Solan, Una and Chamba usually courier the PCC to us once they have it.
Our office is at C-5 A/2, New Ashok Nagar, Delhi 110096. A relative in Delhi can drop the PCC off. We return it by Blue Dart or a similar tracked courier. There is no home pickup service. Pack it flat in a stiff envelope.
Matching the certificate to the destination
Visa and immigration offices often ask for the passport PCC. Some employers, nursing and medical councils, and local authorities ask for a local police certificate. Read your instructions carefully.
The apostille is accepted in the UK, USA, Canada, Australia, Saudi Arabia, Oman, Bahrain and most of Europe. It is not accepted for UAE, Qatar or Kuwait. Those need MEA attestation and embassy legalization. See UAE attestation charges.
Germany and China also do not use the apostille with India. Ask us about the right process for them.
If you are not sure, write to the receiving office and ask which certificate they want, and from which authority. Their written answer settles the question.
Pitfalls to avoid
Name mismatches cause the most trouble. A PCC that drops your middle name, or uses an old surname, may not line up with your passport. Fix the record if you can, or carry an affidavit.
Only the original paper can be apostilled. Scans, colour copies and photocopies cannot. A laminated PCC also cannot be stamped on the back, so it would need replacing.
If your destination asks for a translated copy, we arrange certified translation after the apostille.
Hotel, nursing and other job applicants
Many Himachal residents apply abroad for jobs in hospitality, nursing and other services. Job offers often come with a long list of papers, and the PCC is usually among them. Read the list closely, because some employers ask for both an educational apostille and a PCC.
Each document is a separate apostille with its own MEA fee. Sending them together saves courier cost and lets us check all of them at once. Tell us the full list when you write to us, and we will check each one.
If you need degree or diploma apostilles too, ask us. We handle those as well.
Is your PCC recent enough
Receiving offices often accept only a recently issued PCC. Each one sets its own limit. Ask them before applying so you can time it well.
Once the original reaches us, the Delhi route usually takes 2 to 3 working days. Courier from Himachal adds time at both ends. If you live in a remote district, send it as soon as you collect it. We charge Rs 1,000 to Rs 1,500 for each PCC, and that covers the Rs 50 MEA fee.
