Does an RPO Raipur PCC need state attestation? No. A passport officer at RPO Raipur signs the passport PCC, so PCC apostille in Chhattisgarh for this certificate goes directly to the MEA. A district police character certificate is different. It needs notary and SDM attestation in Delhi, or attestation by the Home (Passport) officers in Raipur, before the apostille.
RPO Raipur and How It Issues the PCC
Chhattisgarh's Regional Passport Office is in Raipur. You apply for a Police Clearance Certificate on passportindia.gov.in and attend your assigned Passport Seva Kendra. The local police then verify your address and record. Once their report reaches the RPO, the passport officer issues the PCC.
This certificate is signed by a central government passport officer, whose signature the MEA can verify directly. No notary, SDM or state department step is needed.
If the local police cannot reach you at the address you gave, the report can be delayed or come back adverse. Keep your phone on and stay available during the verification window.

District Police Character Certificates
Some employers and institutions abroad accept a character certificate from the district police. In Chhattisgarh, these are generally issued by the Superintendent of Police office after a local check. The application method can vary by district, so confirm the process with your district police office.
For the MEA, a police character certificate is a personal document. It must first be attested, either on the Delhi route through a notary and SDM, or on the state route through the Home (Passport) officers in Raipur.
Ask the district office whether the certificate will carry an ink signature or a digital one. An ink-signed original is usually the easiest to attest. If you receive only a digital copy, send it to us first so we can check that its signature details can be confirmed by the SDM.

Raipur Clients and the Rest of the State
Raipur residents usually deal with the RPO in the capital and the Raipur police for verification. Applicants from Bhilai, Durg, Bilaspur, Korba and Jagdalpur also fall under RPO Raipur. They attend the Passport Seva Kendra the portal assigns, and police from their own area complete the check.
Once the certificate arrives, send it to us by courier. We do not run a home pickup service. Delhi NCR visitors may drop the certificate at our New Ashok Nagar office instead.
If you are already abroad, a relative in Chhattisgarh can courier the certificate to us on your behalf. Just include a copy of your passport and a note with your contact details.
Matching the Certificate to the Destination
Requirements differ by country and purpose. Speaking generally, immigration departments and long-term visa sections ask for the passport PCC. A few employers, training programmes and universities accept a district police certificate. If the request mentions a passport authority or nationwide coverage, apply for the passport PCC.
Apostille-accepting destinations include the UK, the USA, Canada, Australia, Saudi Arabia, Oman, Bahrain and most European states. The UAE, Qatar and Kuwait need embassy legalization, explained on our UAE attestation charges page. China and Germany do not accept the Indian apostille.
How Old the PCC Can Be
Many receiving offices want a recently issued police certificate. The limit is set by them, not the MEA, and it varies. Ask the office for its window, then plan around courier time between Chhattisgarh and Delhi and the apostille stage.
Your name must match your passport exactly. Even a single wrong letter can mean an affidavit is needed first.
Common Situations in Chhattisgarh
Many of our Chhattisgarh clients are engineers and technicians from the steel, power and mining sectors around Bhilai, Korba and Raipur, moving to jobs in the Gulf, Africa or Australia. Employers in these sectors often send a long document list. The PCC is usually on it along with an attested degree or diploma.
For a PCC apostille in Chhattisgarh in this situation, send all the documents together. We process each on its own route and return them in one tracked parcel. Students heading to universities abroad are the other large group. Their checklists sometimes accept a district police certificate, but many still ask for the passport PCC, so read the wording closely.
Translation and Other Documents
If your police certificate is in Hindi, the receiving office may want a certified translation. Certified translation is available through our translation service. Many clients also send a degree or a marriage certificate in the same packet. Each document gets its own apostille and MEA fee, but they travel and return together.

Chhattisgarh police clearance certificate apostille FAQs
Can you apply for a PCC on my behalf?
No. You apply and attend police verification yourself. We take over once the certificate is issued.
Can I hand in the PCC at the MEA myself?
No. Since July 2012 the MEA accepts documents only through authorised outsourced centres, not from individuals at the counter.
Does the apostille mean the MEA checked my record?
No. It confirms only the signature of the passport officer or attesting officer.
Is a scanned PCC enough?
No. We need the signed original for the apostille. A scan helps us check it first.

Call or WhatsApp +91 85955 58517, or write to us via the contact page.
Can several family members' PCCs travel together?
Yes. Each PCC gets its own apostille and MEA fee, but we handle them as one file and send them back in a single parcel.
