PCC Apostille in Gujarat: Passport PCC and Police Verification
Getting a PCC apostille in Gujarat depends on which office signed your certificate. A passport PCC comes from the Regional Passport Office in Ahmedabad or Surat, while a police verification certificate comes from the Special Branch of a Police Commissioner's office. INFINITYGRO handles both and returns the apostilled document by tracked courier.

Which Gujarat police certificate can go straight to the MEA? Only the passport PCC. It is signed by a passport officer at RPO Ahmedabad or RPO Surat, so PCC apostille in Gujarat for this type skips the notary and SDM. A police verification certificate from a Commissioner's office or district police first needs attestation, either by an SDM in Delhi or by the General Administration Department in Gandhinagar.
Two Certificates Share One Name
People in Gujarat often say PCC for two different papers. The first is the Police Clearance Certificate issued by a Regional Passport Office after the local police verify your address. The second is a Police Verification Certificate, often called a PVC, issued by the police themselves.
The Gandhinagar Police website describes both. It says the PCC is applied for on passportindia.gov.in and issued by the RPO after local police verification. It also says the PVC is applied for on a prescribed form at the Passport Section, Special Branch, in the Police Commissioner's office, and that the local police station verifies it.
Both documents are useful, but they travel differently. The passport PCC is handled by a central government officer. The PVC is a state document, and that difference decides how many steps it needs before the MEA.

Ahmedabad and Surat Passport Offices
Gujarat has two Regional Passport Offices, in Ahmedabad and Surat. Your residential address decides which one handles your file, and Passport Seva Kendras across the state take the appointment. The RPO Ahmedabad page on the passport portal also lists Diu in its jurisdiction.
A passport PCC carries the signature of a passport officer. The MEA can verify that signature directly, which is why this certificate moves faster through the apostille stage.
If you have moved within Gujarat recently, apply from your current address. The police verification for the PCC is done by the station covering where you live now.
How PCC Apostille in Gujarat Works
- Courier the original certificate and a clear passport copy to our Delhi office.
- We check the issuing office, the date and the name against the passport.
- A passport PCC goes to the MEA through an authorised outsourced centre, because MEA does not accept papers from individuals at the counter.
- A police verification certificate is first notarised and attested by an SDM in Delhi, or attested by GAD Gandhinagar on the state route.
- We return the apostilled certificate by Blue Dart or a similar tracked courier.

Clients in Ahmedabad, Surat, Vadodara and Gandhinagar
Ahmedabad applicants usually deal with RPO Ahmedabad for a passport PCC and with the city Police Commissioner's office for a PVC. In Surat, the nearest passport office is RPO Surat. Vadodara and Gandhinagar residents use the Passport Seva Kendra the portal assigns to their address. In Gandhinagar, the Special Branch at the Sector 27 police headquarters handles the PVC.
All of these clients send their papers to us by courier. We have no home pickup service. If you are visiting Delhi NCR, you may drop the certificate at our New Ashok Nagar office instead.
Which Certificate a Destination Expects
Every country sets its own rule, so take this as a general pattern. Work visas, immigration files and residence permits often ask for the passport PCC, because it covers the applicant's record across India. Some employers, universities and local registrations abroad accept a police verification certificate tied to your home district.
Read the exact wording in the request letter. If it says the certificate must be issued by a passport authority, a police station certificate will not do.
Timing and Freshness
Many receiving offices ask for a recent police certificate. The accepted age varies by country and even by visa category, so ask the receiving office for its window before you apply. Plan the apostille stage too. On the Delhi route, the attestation and apostille usually take 2 to 3 working days, plus courier time from Gujarat.
Check that your name on the PCC matches your passport exactly. A mismatch may need an affidavit.
If your plans change and the certificate expires before you travel, you will need a new PCC and a new apostille. The old apostille does not carry over to a fresh certificate.
Gulf Countries Outside the Convention
Many Gujarat workers head to the Gulf. Saudi Arabia, Oman and Bahrain accept the apostille. The UAE, Qatar and Kuwait are not members, so the certificate needs MEA attestation and then embassy legalization. Our UAE attestation charges page covers that path.
Mistakes That Cause Delays
- Sending a scanned printout instead of the signed original.
- Holding a PVC when the embassy wanted a passport PCC.
- A name on the certificate that differs from the passport by a letter or an initial.
- Laminating the certificate to protect it.
- Waiting so long that the certificate is too old for the receiving office.
Each of these can mean a fresh application. Send us a scan before you courier the original, and we will flag any of these issues early. That simple check is often the quickest part of a PCC apostille in Gujarat, and it saves the most time.
