Who verifies a Gujarat polytechnic diploma before the MEA stamp? The issuing body comes first. For a diploma certificate apostille in Gujarat, a GTU diploma is checked by a notary and SDM in Delhi, or by the General Administration Department in Gandhinagar if a state check is required. The MEA then applies the apostille. Nursing and ITI certificates follow the same pattern with their own issuers.

Gujarat diploma holders come to us with three broad types of paper. Look at the top of your certificate and at the signature block.
Polytechnic diploma
Diploma engineering, pharmacy and similar programmes at government and private polytechnics are affiliated to Gujarat Technological University. Some older certificates were issued under the earlier state technical examination board, and those are still valid documents.
Nursing diploma
General nursing and midwifery or auxiliary nursing diplomas are linked to the Gujarat Nursing Council. Nurses going abroad often need the registration certificate apostilled too.
ITI certificate
National Trade Certificates carry NCVT. State trade certificates are issued under the state council for vocational training.

How a diploma certificate apostille in Gujarat is processed
The diploma is verified through the body that issued it, and then the MEA confirms the verifying signature.
- We check the original and note any name mismatch with your passport.
- A notary attests the diploma, after which the SDM in Delhi confirms the notary. This is the route most receiving bodies accept.
- If a licensing board abroad wants a state check, the paper goes to GAD Gandhinagar instead.
- The MEA adds the apostille through an authorised outsourced centre.
If GTU diploma records are available on e-Sanad, the check can be done online with your passport number.
Semester grade sheets and the leaving certificate
A three-year diploma usually comes with six semester grade sheets. Employers in Canada or Australia sometimes want all of them. Each grade sheet counts as one document for the apostille.
Polytechnic leaving certificates and bonafide letters can also be processed if they are originals with an institute signature. Tell us early so we can quote for the full set. A missing grade sheet found late means a second courier trip, which we would rather help you avoid.

Notes for nurses and ITI trade holders
Nurses from Gujarat moving to the Gulf or the UK usually need the nursing diploma, the council registration and sometimes an experience letter. Experience letters from private hospitals are commercial-style documents, so we check them separately.
ITI electricians, welders and fitters going to Saudi Arabia or Oman often need the trade certificate stamped. Both countries accept the apostille. The UAE and Qatar do not, so those files need MEA attestation and UAE embassy attestation.

- Ahmedabad has several government polytechnics and many private diploma institutes, so we see a steady flow of engineering diplomas from there.
- Surat files are often mechanical or textile diplomas for jobs in the Gulf.

- Gandhinagar is where the GAD office sits, which helps when a state check is chosen.
Use a hard folder so the certificate does not fold. We send it back by Blue Dart or a similar service.
Problems that slow a diploma file
- Lamination. The back cannot be stamped, so a laminated diploma may need a fresh copy from the issuer.
- Photocopies. Only originals are accepted by the MEA.
- Gujarati-only text. A certified translation may be needed. We arrange it through our translation team.
- Spelling differences between the diploma and passport, which need an affidavit.
Countries where the stamp is accepted
The apostille is valid in Hague Convention countries that accept India, including the UK, USA, Canada, Australia, Saudi Arabia, Oman and Bahrain. It does not work for China or Germany. For the UAE, Kuwait, Qatar or Egypt you need MEA attestation plus embassy legalization.
Engineering regulators abroad, such as those assessing skilled migrants, usually read the apostille together with a course syllabus or transcript. Ask the assessing body which papers it wants stamped and which it only wants as plain copies. That keeps the number of apostilles, and your cost, under control.
A short checklist before you post the diploma
- Original diploma certificate, flat and unlaminated.
- All semester grade sheets you want stamped, each one original.
- Passport copy, so we can match the spelling and use e-Sanad if available.
- Nursing council registration or ITI trade certificate, where relevant.
- A written note with the destination country, the purpose and your return address.
We call you once the envelope arrives and confirm the count before filing. If anything is missing, we tell you at that stage, not after the MEA step.

The polytechnic teaches the course, but the diploma for affiliated institutes is awarded under GTU. Check the logo and signature on the certificate.
Does a diploma certificate apostille in Gujarat cover my grade sheets?
No. Each grade sheet is a separate document and gets its own stamp and fee.
Can a diploma from before GTU still be apostilled?
Yes. An older diploma from the earlier state board is still an original public document. We process it the same way.
