Birth Certificate Apostille in Chhattisgarh, Online or Paper
Families asking about a birth certificate apostille in Chhattisgarh often hold one of two kinds: an online certificate issued through the Registrar General's portal since October 2023, or an older paper certificate. Both come under the Office of the Chief Registrar of Births and Deaths, linked to the state's Directorate of Economics and Statistics. INFINITYGRO prepares either for the MEA apostille.

Birth certificate apostille sample
Are Chhattisgarh's online birth certificates accepted for apostille? They can be, if the digital signature can be verified at the attestation stage. For birth certificate apostille in Chhattisgarh, the certificate is attested by a notary and an SDM in Delhi, or by the Raipur authorities on the state route, and the MEA then adds the apostille. Send us the file first so we can check it.
Chhattisgarh's Move to Online Certificates
Chhattisgarh now issues birth and death certificates only through the online portal introduced by the Office of the Registrar General of India in 2023, according to a December 2025 report in The Hitavada. All birth certificates in the state have been issued online since October 2023. Registrars across the state were trained on the portal, and older certificates issued offline can be digitised and stored there.
The state's vital statistics reports are published by the Directorate of Economics and Statistics and the Office of the Chief Registrar of Births and Deaths.

Why the Post-2023 Certificate Matters
The 2023 amendment to the Registration of Births and Deaths Act took effect on 1 October 2023. For a child born after that date, the birth certificate is the sole valid proof of date of birth. Children born earlier can still use other documents in India.
For use abroad, this makes the certificate the key paper in a child's passport, visa or school file. That is why getting it right before the apostille matters.
If your child was born in 2024 or later, make sure the certificate you hold is the one generated on the portal. A hospital record or a vaccination card will not be accepted in its place.
Birth Certificate Apostille in Chhattisgarh: Two Routes
On the Delhi route, a notary attests the certificate, an SDM in Delhi countersigns, and the MEA adds the apostille. It accepts personal documents from every state and usually takes 2 to 3 working days. The full Delhi route costs Rs 1,000 to Rs 1,500 per document with us, and courier is billed on top.
On the state route, the certificate goes to the officers the MEA lists in Raipur, under Home (Passport) and GAD, and then to the MEA. Use it when a receiving office has asked for state attestation. See our MEA apostille page for the last step.
Birth Certificate Apostille in Chhattisgarh for Online Copies
An online certificate carries a digital signature rather than an ink signature and seal. Before the SDM or a state officer will attest it, the signature details usually need to be checkable. Send us the PDF on WhatsApp first. We look at the signing details, the QR code if there is one, and the registration number.
If the file looks fine, print it on good paper and courier the printout with a passport copy. If something is unclear, we may suggest asking the registrar for a signed paper copy instead. Either way, you hear from us before any fee is charged.
Raipur Families and Other Districts
In Raipur, births inside the city are registered by the municipal corporation's registrar. Births at hospitals in the capital are reported to that registrar, who issues the certificate online. Families in Bhilai, Durg, Bilaspur and smaller towns follow the same online system through their own local registrars.
Whichever district you live in, the steps with us are the same. Courier the original or printed certificate with a passport copy of the person named. We do not offer pickup from homes. Delhi NCR clients may drop off in person at our New Ashok Nagar office.
Paper Certificates From Before 2023
- Send the original. A photocopy cannot be apostilled.
- Avoid lamination. The back must take a stamp.
- Confirm the child's name appears. If it is missing, the registrar adds it without charge in the first 12 months, and for a fee until 15 years after registration.
- Check parents' names against their passports. If they differ, an affidavit is the usual fix.
If your paper certificate is worn or the receiving office prefers a computerised copy, ask the registrar to digitise it on the portal and issue a fresh certificate.
When a Birth Was Registered Late
The normal window to report a birth is 21 days. A later registration is still possible under Section 13 of the 1969 Act with the prescribed fee and the permissions that apply. Finish it with the registrar before sending the certificate to us, because the MEA confirms only the signature and does not alter entries.
If the certificate is in Hindi, a receiving office abroad will usually want a certified English translation. We arrange translation in all major languages through our translation service.
Using the Certificate Abroad
Families need the apostilled certificate for a child's passport or visa, school admission, residence permits, citizenship by descent and OCI-related use. Apostille countries such as the UK, the USA, Canada and Australia accept it, along with Saudi Arabia, Oman and Bahrain. China and Germany are the main exceptions. For the UAE, Qatar and Kuwait, the document needs MEA attestation and embassy legalization through our embassy attestation service.
Every certificate gets its own apostille. When the work is done, we return it by Blue Dart or another tracked courier and send you the tracking number.
