The national services directory lists the issue of certificates by the AP Police Department through the MeeSeva network. These include police clearance and character type certificates used for jobs and other purposes.
Such a certificate is a state document. Before the MEA will stamp it, the signature must be verified. We do this through a notary and an SDM in Delhi. The other option is the General Administration Department of Andhra Pradesh.

Which country, which certificate
The USA, UK, Canada and Australia usually want the passport PCC. Saudi Arabia, Oman and Bahrain accept apostilled PCCs too. Most European countries accept them as well, with Germany as the main exception.
Private employers sometimes accept a state police certificate. Get their request in writing so you know which one to apply for.

- A police certificate sent for direct MEA stamping, which the MEA will not accept.
- A laminated PCC with no clear space on the back.

How recent the PCC must be
Every receiving office sets its own rule on PCC age. Ask them before you apply, then apply close to your filing date. The window differs widely between countries. A PCC that lapses while the visa file waits must be applied for again.
Keep the PCC flat, clean and unlaminated. If you need it for two countries, apply for two originals, since each apostille is fixed to one paper.
