Who issues polytechnic diplomas in Telangana? The State Board of Technical Education and Training, Telangana (SBTET), Hyderabad, conducts diploma exams and issues certificates. A diploma certificate apostille in Telangana then follows the Delhi route (notary, SDM, MEA) or the state route through the GAD at the Telangana Secretariat. The MEA fee is Rs 50 per document.
SBTET Telangana in brief
SBTET Telangana runs the diploma system for the state's polytechnics. Students enter through POLYCET, the board's entrance test, and study engineering, non-engineering or technology courses. Agriculture, seed technology and horticulture diplomas are also offered through POLYCET admissions.
The board publishes results by curriculum scheme, such as C21, and issues the final diploma certificate. If your diploma was never collected or has been lost, apply to SBTET or your polytechnic before you begin the apostille.

Diplomas from before the state split
Before June 2014, a single board in Hyderabad served both Telangana and Andhra Pradesh. Holders of older diplomas sometimes worry that their certificate says Andhra Pradesh.
For the Delhi route, this does not matter. The notary and SDM attest the original as issued. For a duplicate or a board confirmation, contact the board of the state where your polytechnic now sits. Telangana polytechnics now come under SBTET Telangana.

Diploma certificate apostille in Telangana: the process
- Share a scan of your diploma and marks memos on WhatsApp.

- Send the original diploma and memos to our Delhi office.
- A notary attests them, and the Delhi SDM verifies the notary. For state verification, the GAD at the Telangana Secretariat signs instead.
- We lodge the papers at the MEA's authorised outsourced centre.
- A tracked courier returns your stamped papers.
Expect about 2 to 3 working days on the Delhi route once the originals arrive.
Nursing, pharmacy and ITI papers
Nursing diplomas from Telangana are tied to registration with the state nursing council. A regulator abroad may want a direct verification from the council in addition to the apostille. Ask the council early, because the two steps run in parallel.
Pharmacy diploma holders may also need a pharmacy council registration. That is a separate document.
ITI certificates under NCVT or SCVT usually go through the Delhi route. Gulf employers ask for them often, so check whether your destination needs an apostille or embassy attestation.
Some technicians hold both an ITI certificate and a polytechnic diploma. If the employer lists both, each one is apostilled separately. Send both originals together so they come back in one parcel.
Lost, damaged or uncollected diplomas
We see many SBTET diplomas that were never collected from the polytechnic. The student took a job after the final exams and moved on. Years later an overseas offer arrives, and the original is still in a drawer at the college or with the board.
Collect it before you plan anything else. If it is lost, the board can issue a duplicate. You will usually need an affidavit and proof of identity, so start early.
A diploma with a torn seal or faded signature may be refused by a notary. A duplicate solves that too.
Diplomas from deemed universities or autonomous institutes are not SBTET documents. They are checked by the institute that issued them.
Avoid these common mistakes
- Sending a laminated diploma, which cannot be stamped on the back
- Sending only the marks memo when the employer wants the diploma
- Ignoring a spelling difference between the diploma and the passport
- Applying for an apostille for a UAE or Qatar job, where embassy attestation is needed
- Couriering papers before checking the route
