Does DOTE Tamil Nadu verify polytechnic diplomas? Yes. The Directorate of Technical Education, Chennai, has forms for a genuineness check (M.02), duplicate certificates (M.01) and transcripts (M.03). For a diploma certificate apostille in Tamil Nadu, the diploma then goes through notary and SDM in Delhi, or the Public (Foreigners) Department, before the MEA.
DOTE Chennai and polytechnic diplomas
Government, aided and private polytechnics across Tamil Nadu follow the DOTE syllabus and sit DOTE exams. The Directorate in Chennai issues the final diploma and the mark sheets.
DOTE's Student Corner page offers three forms. M.01 is for a duplicate certificate. M.02 is for genuineness verification. M.03 is for transcripts or attestation. The M Section at DOTE, Chennai 600025, handles them.
A foreign employer sometimes asks for a genuineness letter straight from DOTE. That letter is separate from the apostille. It does not replace the MEA stamp.
Fill the form carefully, using the register number printed on your mark sheet and the year you passed. Mistakes in these details are the most common reason a request comes back. Diplomas from autonomous polytechnics or deemed universities are checked by the institute that issued them, not by DOTE.

Diploma certificate apostille in Tamil Nadu in five steps

TNNMC nursing diplomas and foreign verification
The Tamil Nadu Nurses and Midwives Council registers nurses, midwives, auxiliary nurse midwives and health visitors. Its online services include licence status, NOCs and foreign verification.
A nurse heading to the UK, Ireland or the Gulf usually needs both. The council's foreign verification goes to the regulator abroad, and the apostille goes on the diploma itself. Start both at the same time to avoid delays.
Lost, wrong or unclaimed diplomas
We cannot apostille a diploma you do not have in hand. If yours is lost, use DOTE's M.01 duplicate form first. If the name or date of birth is wrong, ask DOTE to correct it, or make a name affidavit that matches your passport.
Many people finish a polytechnic course and never collect the final diploma. It is still with DOTE or the polytechnic. Collect it before you start.
A diploma that has been laminated cannot be stamped on the back. A duplicate may be the only fix.
Delhi route or Chennai route for a diploma
For most diploma holders, the Delhi route is enough. A notary attests a copy, the SDM in Delhi verifies the notary, and the MEA apostilles it. Employers in Oman, Saudi Arabia and Europe usually accept this without question.
The state route through the Public (Foreigners) Department is slower. Choose it only when the receiving body says it needs state verification. Some licensing bodies abroad ask for it for technical trades.
We read your offer letter or the regulator's instructions before deciding. That saves you from paying twice. Not every board is connected to the MEA's e-Sanad system, so we check whether an online route exists for your diploma when we review your case.
Diploma holders in Chennai, Coimbatore and Madurai
- Chennai: Close to DOTE, which helps with duplicates and genuineness letters. Many clients are electronics and automobile technicians.
- Coimbatore: Mechanical and textile diploma holders, often joining manufacturers abroad.
- Madurai: Civil, electrical and nursing diplomas, many going to the Gulf.
All of them courier their originals to us in Delhi. Return delivery is by Blue Dart or a comparable tracked courier. We do not collect from homes.
Gulf jobs and other destinations
Oman, Saudi Arabia and Bahrain accept the apostille, as do the UK, the USA, Canada, Australia and most of Europe. For the UAE, Qatar, Kuwait and Egypt, the path is MEA attestation and then legalization at the embassy. Usually not. Most foreign offices still want the MEA apostille on the diploma itself. The letter is extra proof, used when an employer asks for it.
