Who issued my Jharkhand polytechnic diploma? It depends on the year. Recent diplomas come from Jharkhand University of Technology, which absorbed the State Board of Technical Education, Jharkhand. Older ones carry SBTE Jharkhand's name, and very old ones may be from SBTE Bihar. Every version can go through a diploma certificate apostille in Jharkhand using the Delhi route or the HRD route in Ranchi.
Three possible issuers on a Jharkhand diploma
Look at the top of your certificate. You will usually see one of these names:
- Jharkhand University of Technology. JUT publishes diploma semester exam programmes and results. A January 2024 notice on its website covers the merger of SBTE with JUT.
- State Board of Technical Education, Jharkhand. Diplomas from before the merger carry this board's name. They remain valid documents.
- State Board of Technical Education, Bihar. Students who studied before Jharkhand was formed in November 2000 may hold this.
The issuer printed on the paper decides where any verification question goes. A JUT-era diploma may also show the polytechnic's name, but JUT is the examining body. An SBTE Jharkhand diploma is still a board document even though the board has merged.
Government polytechnics in Ranchi, Dhanbad, Jamshedpur, Dumka and other towns, and many private polytechnics, all fall under this system. Mining and metallurgy diplomas from the coal and steel belt are common in our files.
If you cannot read the issuer clearly on an old or faded diploma, send a photo of both sides. The seal on the back often shows the board name. We will confirm before you post the original.

Nursing diplomas and ITI papers
The Jharkhand Nurses Registration Council started work in 2003. It conducts GNM and ANM examinations, issues diplomas and registers nurses. Before 2003, nurses in the region were registered with the Bihar council. Overseas nursing regulators often want the diploma, mark sheets and registration certificate.
For nurses, the diploma and the registration are two different papers. If an overseas regulator asks to verify your registration, that is a request about the registration certificate, and the council is the body behind it.
ITI certificates are NCVT or SCVT. Fitters, electricians and welders from Jamshedpur's industrial belt often need these apostilled or attested for overseas contracts.

Diploma holders in Ranchi and Jamshedpur
In Ranchi, JUT and the HRD Department are both based in the city. That is useful if your employer asks for a state check.
In Jamshedpur, many clients are technicians with diplomas from local polytechnics or ITIs. They courier their papers to our New Ashok Nagar office in Delhi.

Common mistakes with diploma papers
- Sending a photocopy. The MEA needs the original.
- Laminating the certificate. The MEA stamps the reverse side, which lamination blocks.
- Forgetting semester mark sheets the employer asked for. Each needs its own apostille.
- Name differences with the passport. These need an affidavit.
If your diploma is damaged or lost, ask JUT or the nursing council for a duplicate before starting.
Mark sheets, duplicates and JUT records
JUT now holds the examination work for diplomas. If you passed under SBTE Jharkhand and need a duplicate diploma or mark sheet, ask JUT how it handles older records. Do this before you plan the apostille, since only an original can be apostilled.
Each semester mark sheet is a separate document. A full three-year diploma file can have six mark sheets plus the diploma. Many employers ask only for the diploma and the final mark sheet. Check before sending, so you do not pay for papers nobody needs.
Fees and timing for a diploma certificate apostille in Jharkhand
