Birth Certificate Apostille in Rajasthan for Pehchan Certificates
Planning a birth certificate apostille in Rajasthan usually means working with a certificate issued through Pehchan, the state's civil registration platform built by NIC Rajasthan. The Chief Registrar (Birth-Death) sits within the Directorate of Economics and Statistics, and thousands of local registrars issue certificates through the system. INFINITYGRO takes the original through attestation and the MEA apostille.

Are Pehchan birth certificates accepted for apostille? Yes, as long as the certificate is an original issued by a registrar or sub-registrar. For birth certificate apostille in Rajasthan, it is attested by a notary and an SDM in Delhi, or by the Home (Coordination) Department in Jaipur, and the MEA then adds the apostille. Hindi certificates usually need a certified English translation.
Pehchan and the Chief Registrar
Rajasthan has run its own civil registration platform, Pehchan, for over 12 years, according to NIC. It handles births, deaths, stillbirths and marriages. NIC reports that it serves more than 15,000 registrars and sub-registrars, along with over 2,400 private hospitals that report births directly.
The Chief Registrar (Birth-Death) and the Directorate of Economics and Statistics oversee the system. Pehchan data links with the Registrar General's Civil Registration System, UIDAI and Jan Aadhaar. A WhatsApp bot also gives access to some services.
For families, this means one registration feeds several government records. A spelling error in Pehchan can show up elsewhere, so it is worth correcting at the source.

Who Signs Your Certificate
The registrar for the place of birth signs the certificate. In cities this is usually a municipal corporation or council official. In villages it is the registrar for the gram panchayat area. Private hospitals report the birth, but the certificate itself comes from the registrar.
Look at the registration number, the registrar's designation and the issue date. If any of these are missing or unclear, ask the registrar for a fresh copy before sending it to us.
If the family has moved since the birth, it does not matter. Registration stays with the place where the child was born, and the certificate comes from that registrar.
Birth Certificate Apostille in Rajasthan: How It Moves
Through Delhi. A notary attests the original, an SDM in Delhi countersigns, and the MEA adds the apostille. This is accepted for personal documents from any state. It usually takes 2 to 3 working days, and our all-inclusive fee is Rs 1,000 to Rs 1,500 per document, with courier extra.
Through Jaipur. The Home (Coordination) Department in Jaipur, the MEA's listed authority for Rajasthan, attests it before the MEA. Choose this only when a foreign office asks for state attestation.
The MEA apostille page explains what the final sticker means.
Jaipur and Udaipur Families
In Jaipur, births inside city limits are registered with the municipal corporation's registrar, and certificates come through Pehchan. Udaipur works the same way through its own municipal body. Villages around both cities use panchayat-level registrars.
From either city, courier the original and a passport copy of the person named to our New Ashok Nagar office in Delhi. There is no pickup from your home. Jaipur clients who travel to Delhi NCR often prefer to drop off in person, which is welcome.
Clients from Jodhpur, Kota, Ajmer and Bikaner send their certificates the same way. The process does not change with the district.
Hindi Certificates and Translation
Rajasthan certificates are often in Hindi, or in Hindi and English. Foreign schools and immigration offices generally want an English version, and some ask for their own language. We arrange certified translation in all major languages. Ask the receiving office whether the translation needs its own apostille, because rules differ.
See our translation service for details.
Checks Before You Post the Original
- Original only, since MEA does not apostille photocopies.
- Not laminated, because the back must take a stamp.
- Child's name filled in. It can be added free within 12 months of registration, and with a fee up to 15 years.
- Parents' names as in their passports, or an affidavit ready.
- For late registration, the certificate already issued under Section 13 of the 1969 Act.
Older handwritten certificates are still valid in India, but a receiving office may want a computerised copy. Ask early.
If a receiving office questions a certificate's age, the registrar can issue a fresh extract from the same record. The registration number stays the same, so the new copy matches the old one.
What Birth Certificate Apostille in Rajasthan Costs
At the MEA, each document costs Rs 50. Our Delhi route package is Rs 1,000 to Rs 1,500 per document. It includes the notary, the SDM attestation, the MEA fee and our service. Courier from Rajasthan and back is extra.
A family moving abroad with two children needs two apostilles, because every certificate is handled separately. If a translation is needed, we quote it before starting. We update you on WhatsApp at each stage, and you receive the tracking number on the day of dispatch. Most Delhi route files finish in 2 to 3 working days after the original arrives.
Where the Apostilled Certificate Goes
Families use it for a child's passport or visa abroad, school admission, residence permits, citizenship by descent and OCI-related use. The UK, the USA, Canada, Australia, Saudi Arabia, Oman and most of Europe accept the apostille. The UAE, Qatar and Kuwait need embassy legalization instead, covered on our embassy attestation service page.

Rajasthan birth certificate apostille FAQs
Can I use a Pehchan printout for apostille?
Send us the file or printout first. We will check whether it carries a verifiable signature or whether a signed copy from the registrar is safer.
Is the apostille accepted in China or Germany?
No. The Indian apostille is not accepted in China, and German authorities check Indian papers through their embassy.
Do I need to visit Delhi?
No. Courier the original to us. Delhi NCR clients may drop it off.
Does MEA verify the birth date?
No. MEA confirms the signature of the attesting officer only, not the details on the certificate.
Can you add my child's name for me?
No. The registrar who issued the certificate adds the name. Once the updated certificate is issued, send it to us. You can reach us through the contact page.
What if my certificate was issued before Pehchan?
Older certificates issued by a registrar remain valid in India. If a foreign office prefers a computerised copy, apply to the same registrar for a fresh certificate.
